Hello!Ms. Sophie is what the kiddos call me! I am their art teacher at Great Expectations. We have a lot of fun working with many different art materials, and learning many different techniques. Our artworks are inspired by art history, as well as cultural traditions, and most importantly our imaginations. Students also enjoy free art time, when they are done with the project we are working on. I love teaching at Great Expectations. The students do excellent work, and are wonderful to teach.
If you have any questions or suggestions please email me at [email protected]. |
Background |
I am from Duluth, Minnesota where my parents have a pottery business. I grew up around art, and always enjoyed it in my free time. I was focused on playing the violin in school, so I didn't study art until college. I realized then how much I loved the expressive freedom of art and enjoyed the challenge of precision it requires. I knew I loved working with people, and thought teaching would be a great mix of the two passions. It has been crazy and fun ride! I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education with a minor in Art History from the University of Minnesota in 2008. I enjoyed the opportunity to teach art in Vietnam, and caught the travel bug. My husband, son and I travel as much as possible. We love learning about different cultures and seeing all the beauty the world has to offer.
